Dendrobium pendulum Roxb. 1832 SECTION Dendrobium

Common Name: Pendent growing dendrobium


Distribution & Occurrence:

Western Himalayas to Vietnam@ elevations of 500 to 1700 Meters.

The Plant

Small to large sized warm to cool growing epiphyte with tufted & pendulous dull olive green canes

Blooms in the fall on very short. Few flowered inflorescence with boat shaped and papery bracts on the upper nodes of leaf less canes

Flowers once year during early or late fall and flower lasts 2 weeks

Cultural Requirements and Nutrition

Grow in bright light with atleast few hours of direct sunlight and medium should dry out soon. Water and fertilize during active growth period in summer and reduce watering in winter with occasional misting and complete withholding of fertilizers during winter.

Prefers to be mounted as growth habit is pendulous

No specific pests or disease.


Bloomed in Feb 2015. blooming in a single cane and 3 buds.
