Chinese Himalayas to Laos @1000-1700 meters.
The
Plant
Medium to large size warm to cool growing
epiphyte with distinct looking stems with a string of beads look. Stems have
swollen nodes and are compressed bilaterally. Stems start growing normally and
get the swollen appearance as the canes mature.
Blooms in the fall on very short. Racemes
arise from the apex of the leafless stems with fragrant, waxy flowers. Color of
this species is variable.
Flowers once year during early or late fall
and flower lasts a few months
Cultural
Requirements and Nutrition
Grow in bright light with atleast few hours
of direct sunlight and medium should dry out soon. Water and fertilize during
active growth period in summer and reduce watering in winter with occasional
misting and complete withholding of fertilizers during winter.
Prefers to be mounted as the canes are
pendent
