Common Name: The Brown-Yellow Gongora

Distribution & Occurrence:

Western Columbia as a hot growing epiphyte

The Plant

Medium sized epiphyte closely related to Stanhopea genus with ridged and ovoid pseudobulbs.

Blooms in the late fall or spring on a long inflorescence with 8-12 fragrant flowers that appears from the base of the pseudobulbs. Can bloom multiple times in a year if the culture and conditions are excellent

Flowers are very fragrant and flowers once year during early or late fall and flower lasts a few days


Cultural Requirements and Nutrition


Requires to be grown in partial shade with Phalaenopsis light levels. Prefers to be grown in open baskets and can quickly grow into specimen size plants. Fertilize and water throughout the year. Allow the medium to dry out before watering again


Pest and Diseases

Prone to Mealy bugs,scales & mites.

Bloomed in January 2015
