Common Name: The white and red dendrobium

Distribution & Occurrence:

Myanmar to Thailand @ elevations of 300 to 600 Meters.

The Plant

Small to medium sized warm to cool growing epiphyte with cylindrical, stout & clustered canes with strongly developed nodes with white sheathing bracts

Blooms in the fall on very short. 2-7 flowered raceme with waxy,fragrant and long lasting flowers that appear on the upper nodes of the canes. Flowers are larger (upto 9 cms) and fragrant

Flowers once year during early or late fall and flower lasts 2 weeks

Cultural Requirements and Nutrition

Grow in bright light with atleast few hours of direct sunlight and medium should dry out soon. Water and fertilize during active growth period in summer and reduce watering in winter with occasional misting and complete withholding of fertilizers during winter.

Prefers to be mounted as growth habit is pendulous
